Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Start Happy Home Paradise & Visit the Archipelago

There’s a ton of new content available right now in Animal Crossing New Horizons thanks to its 2.0 update and the new Happy Home Paradise DLC. While the 2.0 update adds things like farming, cooking, stretching with your islanders, Brewster and The Roost, island ordinances and a ton of new shops to Harv’s island including Katrina the Fortune Teller, the Happy Home Paradise DLC sees you visiting a new archipelago to help various characters build their dream holiday homes. In this guide, we’ll be running you through what you need to know to visit the archipelago and start Happy Home Paradise in Animal Crossing New Horizons.

Before we go any further, it’s worth pointing out that Happy Home Paradise is paid DLC, coming in at $24.99/ £22.49. This can be purchased from the Nintendo eShop, so make sure you’ve done this before loading up the game otherwise you won’t be able to visit the archipelago at all.

Starting Happy Home Paradise in Animal Crossing New Horizons

After purchasing the DLC, load up New Horizons and Tom Nook will phone you and tell you to go to the airport. Here, you’ll meet Lottie the Otter, and the two will explain that she helps design holiday homes on a nearby archipelago.

Confirm you want to help her out and then when you’ve finished talking to Tom Nook speak to Orville, and select the option ‘I Want to Go to Work.’

He’ll run through his usual dialog spiel and then you’ll have a little cutscene where you fly overhead and eventually land on the archipelago.

Once you’re here, make your way to the main building right ahead of you and speak to Lottie the Otter.

You’ll now be given a quick introduction into how things work in Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise, before being tasked with helping your first character design their dream home.

That’s everything you need to know on how to start Animal Crossing New Horizons Happy Home Paradise. For more tips and tricks on the 2.0 update and this hefty new DLC, be sure to check out our wiki, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
