Cooking will be a familiar mechanic to any Zelda players, with it just as important in Tears of the Kingdom as it was in Breath of the Wild. Food can be augmented in almost every way with cooking oil though, so here’s how to get Oil Jars in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, from their location to what they do in recipes.

How To Find Oil Jars in Zelda: TOTK

Like a lot of items in Tears of the Kingdom, players will naturally stumble across Oil Jars as they make their way round Hyrule and progress through the game’s narrative. This casual approach will see you accumulate Oil Jars but it may leave you short from time to time.

Luckily, there is a guaranteed way to get Oil Jars in TOTK:

  1. Head for Rito Village’s General Store.
  2. Purchase up to 5 Oil Jars, with each costing 12 Rupees.
  3. Return to the store as required to purchase more!

Players may need to wait until the store’s stock has refreshed to get more. Regardless, fast traveling to Rito Village will almost always be your easiest way of getting more Oil Jars. There’s also a small supply players can loot for free at Hebra Trailhead Lodge, so it’s worth checking out if you’ve not yet helped yourself to this stash.

They’re described in game as: A mild oil extracted from plant seeds, it’s very versatile in cooking and can coax flavors from ingredients used in many dishes. Also good for adding fuel to fire.
