Many a player has happened upon these rare gems by chance only to wonder what they did to earn it. Worse yet, they then have no idea what they’re supposed to do with them, as the game gives no indication of whether they’re for crafting, selling or both.

Fortunately, we’ve done the leg work and uncovered the answers to these questions so you can put these rare materials to use sooner rather than later.

How to Get Rubies, Sapphires & Emeralds & What They’re For in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Where to Find Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds

There aren’t many requirements to get rubies, sapphires, and emeralds aside from the usual Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night rare drop conditions.

For starters, you’ll need to have gained access to the Forbidden Underground Waterway. This area acts as the lower level of the castle and houses some powerful enemies to survive against and dispatch.

Once there, there are two different methods you can use to obtain these gem stones: You can open blue treasure chests that yield high-level items; or, you can grind the powerful Shovel Knight-esque enemies.

The former method has a higher chance of yielding rubies, sapphires, and emeralds, with each chest you open providing the chance to get several of each gem stone.

However, in order to farm up several of each gem stone, you’ll need to exit and re-enter the Forbidden Underground Waterway several times.

As for the latter method, it comes with the usual problems tied to grinding on enemies. There are no guarantees you’ll get the drop you’re hoping for, and you run the risk of being killed by the enemy if you’re not properly leveled.

At the same time though, it can be far faster and efficient if you find a room where you can easily kill an enemy to try and prompt the drop, leave, re-enter and repeat.

What to Do with Rubies, Sapphires, and Emeralds

As for what you can and should do with these gems once you have them, there are two options available to you.

One is to use them in crafting. Each gem stone can be used to create a different type of ring – a Ruby Ring, a Sapphire Ring and an Emerald Ring, to be specific. Each ring provides its own stat boosts and bonuses, and should be obtained as soon as possible.

Once you have all three of these rings though, you can still collect multiples of these gem stones to sell at the supply post for a handsome sum.

Of course, this latter method is entirely optional. As valuable as these gems are, it can be just as lucrative to continue on through the game and acquire funds through more natural methods.

That should cover everything you’ll need to know about how to get rubies, sapphires, and emeralds and what they’re for. For more on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, check out our guide on how to change your hairstyle and appearance.
