Movement Speed

This mod out last month allows the player to change their movement speed using a flat multiplier. The default is 50 percent faster movement, but it can be configured to whatever speed you prefer. Not only does it make your character move faster, but it also increases the speed of the charge up for the watering can and hoe as well so you can be a bit faster with your morning chores.

Mermaids

This simple but fun mod replaces the mariner on the beach with a beautiful mermaid perched on a rock. There are three mermaids to choose from, Sabrina with long blonde hair, Pearl with short white hair, and Delphine with a long blue ponytail. Not to mention that when you go to get the Mermaid’s Pendant for 5,000g in order to marry the NPC of your dreams, it will make much more sense coming from an actual mermaid rather than a mariner.

Natural Paths

For more options with path making on our farm, this mod gives you tons of new ones to choose from that are made specifically to look natural in their environment. There are eight possible path replacements for each season including two made of grass, two of dirt, two of sand, and two of straw. There are also options for paths that have a shadow effect and some that are transparent so you can block the ability to plant a seed in that square without actually placing a visual item there. The sets also come in two varieties, one for the standard farm and one for the forest farm options.

Custom Hats from Ragnarok Online

This was a popular mod last month, offering approximately 40 new hats to use in game based on hats seen in MMORPG game Ragnarok Online. Some of the hats include:

  • Angry Solo Hat
  • Whisper Mask
  • Beanie
  • Flower Hairpin
  • Orchid Headband
  • Galapago Cap
  • Kitsune Mask

The names have been changed to match the description of those in the original game. Care has also been taken so when you download this mod, it does not affect the vanilla hats in-game whatsoever. They will still remain as options for you to choose from in the Hat Mouse shop along with all the new Ragnarok hats.

Cuter and Fatter Pigs

Cute animals are never a bad thing, and this mod acknowledges that fact by allowing you to have much cuter (and fatter!) pigs on your farm compared to the normal vanilla ones. These pigs are much plumper, have red and rosy cheeks, and even have a cute spit bubble come out of their mouth when they doze off. This mod was meant to mimic the Cuter, Fatter Cows mod by Identitypollution back in April 2016, and simply apply all the same changes to the pigs of Stardew Valley.

Default Multiplayer Server

This mod, for those who specifically love playing Stardew Valley online, allows your multiplayer host to continually stay online even if the host is not present. Essentially, it allows the game to remain online always by automating day-to-day in-game activities. It pauses the game when no clients are connected, and automatically freezes all friendship levels as well.

Skipping Fishing Mini-Game

If the fishing mini-game in Stardew Valley isn’t your thing, then this is the mod for you. Once installed, it completely skips the fishing mini-game and makes it so the fish is automatically caught whenever it bites on your hook. As long as you pull on the line when the fish is caught, you will be able to reel it in easily with no problems at all. You can still catch legendary fish, get treasure, get fishing experience, and have an updated fishing collection maintained while using this mod.

Pet House Patcher

It’s hard to see our beloved Stardew Valley pets sit outside in the cold and rain, so this mod adds a pet house so they can stay nice and cozy no matter what the weather. The pet houses work with all vanilla farms, and also have seasonal sprites so they change appearance if it’s winter, spring, summer, or fall. There are also new pet bowls, with both food and water being filled when you interact with them. In vanilla Stardew Valley, only a small water bowl is filled.

More Help Wanted Quests

After a while, the same old fetch quests on the town’s bulletin board can get pretty boring. This mod seeks to rectify that by unlocking more variety with the “Help Wanted” quests in town. The quests are still split into four categories: delivering items, gathering, fishing, and slaying monsters. However, there is now more variety with what you are asked to specifically deliver, gather, fish, and slay. You can even configure the mod to only show you the types of quests you want to see.

Yellog’s Wood Buildings

This last mod, and by far one of the most popular ones from last month on Nexus Mods, offers replacements for all your farm buildings made out of beautiful white wood. Vines and flowers creep over the roofs, and each new building has a wealth of new details. Each building also has a different appearance for each season, with the flowers and vines changing color depending on what time of year it is. The normally brown roofs also turn blue in the winter, for a more wonderland feel.
