The Xbox One X isn’t the only new hardware option coming from Microsoft this fall. Today at the Xbox at Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany, the company announced three new hardware options including a Minecraft-themed Xbox One S.
The special edition Minecraft console features no shortage of touches that fans of the game are sure to love. Designed to aesthetically mimic the grass block, the top of the console has the unmistakable, low-res Minecraft art style. The console also features Redstone circuit accents on the bottom, Minecraft system sounds, and a verticle stand. The bundle includes a copy of Minecraft with the Redstone pack, a 1 TB hard drive, and a controller designed around the common but problematic Minecraft-nemesis, the Creeper, with a TNT crate on the back battery cover.
The console is currently available for pre-order and will be available at retail on October 3. A separate special edition pink controller will be made available on the same day and features the Minecraft pig face on the front and tail on the back.
Microsoft also announced two new bundles that include Middle-earth: Shadow of War. While this bundle does not feature any special branding for the game, the two bundles will come with the standard white Xbox One S (either 500 GB or 1 TB HDD), a copy of Middle-earth: Shadow of War, the bonus in-game items Legendary Champions War Party and the Epic Sword of Dominion, a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial, and a 1-month trial to Xbox Game Pass. The bundle is available for pre-order now and will launch with the game on October 10.
