Pretty much everybody who is a gamer has played Halo, and over the years Halo has become more and more popular in the FPS gaming world. Next month we will get to see Halo in all of its gaming-glory as it takes center-stage at the Halo World Championship. The Halo World Championship takes at a yet-to-be-announced Hollywood venue in Hollywood, California on March 18-20. The venue will be announced on March 4.
Sixteen teams from all around the world are coming out to compete, eight of which are from North America. The North American teams include Team Allegiance, CLG, Denial, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Noble eSports, Renegades, and Triggers Pound. The other teams are as follows: Epislon eSports, FabE, exceL, and Team Infused from Europe and Africa, Immunity and Exile5 from Australia and New Zealand, and lastly, Skyfire and Chosen Squad from Asia and Latin America.
The prize pool is now at $2.5 million, as it originally started out at $1 million. The prize pool has made it to the $2.5 million mark all thanks to the money generated from the microtransactions in Halo 5: Guardians. The prize pool is capped at $2.5 million, and will not go any higher. The winning team at the Championship this year will take home $1 million, which Microsoft states is the “biggest individual prize pool in console esports history.”
