Dropshot – Gears of War 4

The Dropshot is one of the new power weapons in Gears of War 4. You’ll be able to spend some quality time with this lethal new weapon in both the campaign, multiplayer, and Horde 3.0 if you purchase it from the Fabricator. While it’s certainly a powerful weapon, it does take a little bit of getting to grips with. Here’s how to use the Dropshot and rack up your kill count.

The Dropshot fires off what is essentially an aerial mine. The projectile will float in a straight line across the map for as long as you’ve got your finger down on RT. As soon as you let go, the mine will drill down into whatever’s below it. This means that if you’ve got an enemy hiding behind cover a lot of the time, the Dropshot has their number.

In order to use it effectively, you’ll need to learn to gauge the Dropshot’s proximity to its target. This can be difficult when it’s traveling at a pretty high speed way above the action. To do this, take a look just below the mine as it floats through the air. You should see a faint blue glowing line below it indicating where it would drop. As it is just about to hit your enemy, let go of RT to hit your target. If you leave it until the enemy is directly underneath, you’re unlikely to get a perfect hit. Remember to give the Dropshot a little time to respond and you’ll be drilling through enemy heads in no time at all.
