NieR: Automata – All Endings

Recommended Videos

Like all Yoko Taro games, NieR: Automata features multiple endings. Playing through the game normally and getting the first ending will offer you a ‘complete’ experience, but if you really want to get the full picture and see what the game truly has to offer, you’ll need to keep playing. Listed below are all the endings we’ve found so far, along with instructions on how to get them. We’ve tried to keep it as spoiler-free as possible, and we’ll be updating this guide as we unlock more endings.

Ending A: flowers for mAchines

Simply play through the game for the first time and complete all story missions. This ending can’t be missed.

Ending B: or not to Be

Load your cleared save file from beating the game once and achieving Ending A. Play through the game normally and complete all story missions to reach this ending.

Ending C: meaningless Code

This ending can only be obtained during your third run. For the final boss fight, pick A2. Beat the fight. During the credits, deny the Pod’s request.

Ending D: chilDhood’s end

This ending can only be obtained during your third run. For the final boss fight, pick 9S. After the fight, during the text adventure segment, you’ll have two options: “I’ll go with you,” or “I’ll stay.” Either option will get you this ending.

Ending E: the End of yorha

This ending can only be obtained during your third run. For the final boss fight, pick A2. During the credits, accept the data transfer, and choose the option that says you wanted them to live. You’ll have to play the most intense bullet hell mini game ever, and make it all the way to the end. There are checkpoints in the mini game, however, and you’ll have the opportunity to receive assistance near the end. Beat the mini game, and you’ll unlock this ending.

Ending F: mission Failed

This ending can only be obtained in your second run, during the prologue mission with 9S. While 2B pilots the flight unit to fight the Goliath, 9S will have to restore his internal systems. Simply let the timer run out and you’ll get this ending.

Ending G: hunGry for knowledge

When playing the prologue as 9S, head towards the crane at the very beginning of the level instead of going upwards.

Ending H: a mountain too High

When the Goliath machines attack the city, run towards the Amusement Park instead of the City Ruins.

Ending I: no I in team

This ending can be obtained during your first playthrough. After defeating the boss at the Copied City, walk away from 9S.

Ending J: bad Judgment

When meeting up with the machine lifeforms at the Abandoned Factory with 2B, kill the leader.

Ending K: aji wo Kutta

Complete the side mission for Jackass in the desert. You’ll receive an e-mail from Jackass afterwards telling you about a fish. Talk to her at the Desert Camp to get the Mackerel key item. Eat it to get this ending.

Ending L: Lone wolf

As 2B, run away from the battle with Eve (this is the battle right after 2B destroys the orb machine and 9S rejoins her).

Ending M: break tiMe

When playing as A2, don’t go to Pascal’s Village when it’s under attack.

Ending O: just yOu and me

When 2B gets hit with the EMP attack during your third run and you assume control of 9S, run away from the fight.

Ending P: corruPtion

Let 2B die from the logic virus during your third run.

Ending Q: Questionable actions

After crash landing on Earth as 9S during your third run, turn around and run away from the ruined tower instead of heading there to find 2B.

Ending R: maveRick

When you meet up with Pascal at the Abandoned Factory as A2, kill the machines cowering in fear.

Ending S: city eScape

When Devola and Popola come to assist 9S while he hacks the tower, flee the scene to trigger this ending.

Ending T: faTal error

Remove your OS chip.

Ending U: debUnked

Activate your self-destruct function in the Bunker.

Ending V: reckless braVery

This ending can only be obtained during your third run. When you’re tasked with hacking the tower as 9S, don’t do it. Simply continue fighting the endless waves of enemies with your allies until they fall.

Ending W: broken Wings

During the prologue mission where 2B flies into the Abandoned Factory with her fellow YoRHa units, get killed by the giant laser beam.

There are still a few more main story endings, as well as some joke endings you can get by doing silly things in the game, and we’ll list them here as we discover them.

Ending X: time to relaX

When you gain control of A2 for the first time, run away from the fight instead of protecting 2B from the machines.

Ending Y: headY battle

When fighting against the Emil superboss in the desert, let the timer run out and have him self-destruct towards the end of the battle.

Ending Z: overZealous

When you meet Pascal for the first time as A2, kill him.
