How to Get a Nemesis in Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Recommended Videos

The Nemesis system was one of the most unique mechanics introduced in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, and it’s making a return in Shadow of War. The system works pretty much the same way as it did in the previous game, but with a few improvements here and there, and Talion can get himself quite a few Nemeses as you make your way through the game.

To get a Nemesis, all you have to do is die to an enemy. Each time you’re defeated by an orc or Uruk in battle, that particular enemy will be promoted to captain status (if they weren’t already), and they’ll also receive a buff that makes them even more formidable in a fight. They’ll also be listed in the captains menu, and you can check the information on your brand new Nemesis enemy. After that, you can hunt them down like you would any other normal captain in Shadow of War. Simply interrogate a worm for more intel on their newly-received buffs and weaknesses, track them down, and exact your revenge on them to put an end to your feud once and for all.
