Today, Microsoft sent a message to those who were lucky enough to download Fallout 4 for free yesterday informing them that their access to the game has been revoked. Those effected will receive $10 in their Xbox wallets by the end of June, and will expire after a year. This news comes off the heels of yesterday’s apparent pricing error of Fallout 4 on the Microsoft store that led to the game and all of its DLC to be available for free.

It’s been an eventful month for Fallout 4. Just over a week ago, the long-awaited support for mods in the Xbox version of the game arrived, and the reception has been very positive. Recently, we wrote about mod support in Fallout 4, and why it’s a breath of fresh air for console gaming that more console games should embrace in the future. We recently reviewed the game’s first big expansion, Far Harbor, and you can read a whole lot more about it here.
Was it right for Microsoft to revoke access to people’s free copies of the game? Is $10 enough to make it okay? Let us know in the comments.
