Some of the books will serve as prequels and as sequels, with the plot being different from the original games. Instead of humans going against Reapers and defending their home, the books are described as a new story that “will take the game in a dramatic new direction and is set in a new region of space, with a new and deadly enemy.”

None of the books have an exact release date and some do not even have a title, but we do know that the first is called Mass Effect: Andromeda Initiative and is written by N. K Jemsin. That book is set to release in August, while the second and third novel will come out in 2017. The last book will see release in 2018. The authors of the second and third are not known, but the fourth will be written by Mac Walters. In the press statement, it is stated that the books will follow key characters “and answer many questions fans have been asking.”

Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to release in March 2017 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think about having a book series fill in the story between the original games and Andromeda? Let us know in the comments below.
