The Witcher franchise might have seen its last game, but Geralt of Rivia isn’t done just yet. He might star in a future video game, albeit one that takes him far away from his home.
Community lead at CD Projekt RED Marcin Momot recently tweeted an announcement that simultaneous reveals very little and a lot:
What if Geralt was going to step out of the @witchergame for the very first time to make an appearance in one of the upcoming games later this year? pic.twitter.com/dMTn1Im6HD

This tweet has exploded in popularity and the comments section is filled with gamers speculating which games could potentially receive the White Wolf himself.
Easily the most popular suggestion is Geralt could appear in Soul Calibur 6. Bandai Namco’s popular fighting game is no stranger to guest characters. Video game icons such as God of War’s Kratos, Assassin Creed II’s Ezio Auditore da Firenze, and The Legend of Zelda’s Link have appeared in previous entries, so Geralt clashing steel (or silver) with the likes of Nightmare and Voldo isn’t much of a stretch. Plus, Bandai Namco published The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, so the two companies are on fairly good terms.
Another popular opinion is a crossover with Final Fantasy XV. While the game isn’t exactly “upcoming” (unless you count the Royal and Windows Editions that release later today), a Witcher and Final Fantasy crossover event wouldn’t be out of place. After all, Final Fantasy XV featured an Assassin’s Creed crossover in the form of the Assassin’s Festival (that ended January 31st), so Noctis bumping into Geralt isn’t out of the question, especially since the existence of other dimensions/worlds is canon in The Witcher video games.
More than a few commenters believe Momot’s announcement could potentially indicate a cameo appearance in Monster Hunter: World. While the game is currently available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the PC version is still in development, so it could possibly count as an “upcoming game.” Either way, the Monster Hunter franchise has seen more than its fair share of crossovers. Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda, and Horizon Zero Dawn are only a few examples of games that have been referenced in Monster Hunter through weapons and character skins. Many Monster Hunter: World players would likely welcome the opportunity to dress up their character as the famous Witcher (a vocation known for hunting monsters) and dual wield Geralt’s steel and silver swords.
As of writing this article, none of the companies associated with the above games have responded to Momot’s announcement. For all we know, he is trying to drum up fan support for a Witcher crossover that hasn’t even started development. Although, given the reactions to Momot’s tweet, many gamers would love if Geralt appeared in another video game. Only time will tell which game, if any, will receive the honor.
