Reddit user LinuxVersion got The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to run on a Toshiba Encore 2 tablet, to varying degrees of playability.
Though the game is only running at 14-16 frames-per-second, the fact that he even got it to run is impressive. To play Skyrim, it’s required that players have at least 2GB of ram and 512MB of dedicated video memory. According to LinuxVersion, the Toshiba Encore 2 tablet has 66% less memory than the minimum to even run Skyrim.
It wasn’t without error, the whole process took him multiple days of tweaking and modifying the tablet to finally get Elder Scrolls to run on it. Here’s some of the specifications of the tablet used to run the game:
-Intel Atom Z3735G
-Intel integrated graphics
-1024MB RAM
-Windows 8.1
-1280×800 resolution
Even though the game’s textures might look like melted ice cream, it’s still a great way to play Elder Scrolls on the go.
Could you withstand the low FPS to play Skyrim anywhere you went? At least the slow-mo kill-cams might look interesting? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
