Metal Gear Solid V, The Witcher 3 Lead Nominations for 2016’s Game Developers Choice Awards

The Witcher and Big Boss face off.

On March 16th, the 16th Game Developers Choice Awards will be held. This year’s ceremony will honor the best games of 2015 with awards in a number of categories.

The Game Developers Conference has posted every category and nominee for the upcoming show on the GDC blog. This year, games could be nominated into one of the following categories:

  • Game of the Year
  • Innovation Award
  • Best Debut
  • Best Design
  • Best Handheld/Mobile Game
  • Best Visual Art
  • Best Narrative
  • Best Audio
  • Best Technology

Special awards for the Pioneer, Ambassador and Lifetime Achievement will also be given out at the show.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt received the most nominations overall at four each. Games like Splatoon, Bloodborne and Fallout 4 weren’t far behind, gaining three nominations each.

Each category has multiple honorable mentions as well, so it’s worth checking out the post to see some games you may have missed, or feel the immense satisfaction of seeing your favorite game get nominated.

The Game Developers Choice Awards will take place on March 16, 2016 at the San Francisco Moscone Center. If you can’t make it out to California, the event will be streamed on the GDC Twitch channel.
