At Gamescom there was an interesting part to the Final Fantasy XV demo on-show. It came in the form of a short preliminary chapter called ‘Chapter 0’ which showcased an older group than the one seen in the trailers. A bearded Noctis among his friends in a burning castle fighting something unknown. Since then it’s been disputed whether this means the game will take place over a long period of time, but now we have our confirmation!
Hajime Tabata Spoke to IGN at Pax West, and it was revealed that the game’s story is going to span 10 years, meaning that the group of lads will grow as you progress through the story into adults. Tabata said that this is to make sure we acknowledge the “living, breathing” nature of the characters rather than just their “symbolic” meanings.
He also added that it was key to “see a little bit of King Regis” in Noctis’ appearance after 10 years. Final Fantasy is no stranger to long drawn-out narratives so I’m sure it’ll be a delightful story to experience, and it’ll be good to see the characters you invest so much time in grow and evolve to become more complex.
We won’t have to wait long to play it either, as the game is coming to Xbox One and Playstation 4 on November 29.
