Square Enix has officially confirmed that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be coming west in 2018. Systems for the western version have yet to be announced, but the game is coming to PS4, Switch, and 3DS in Japan. The director of the Dragon Quest series, Yuji Hori, confirmed the news in a new video today, where he thanked fans of the series and talked about the new entry.
According to Hori localization has already begun on Dragon Quest XI, and it’s being translated into five languages including English. It’s going to take a while, however, as Hori states “There’s quite a lot of text, so it’s an exorbitant amount of work.” You can take a look at the full video down below.
Dragon Quest XI, like other games in the series, focuses on a chosen hero who must save the world. This time, however, things area little different as Hori says the game starts out with a “pursued hero”.
Dragon Quest XI will launch sometime in 2018 in the West. The PS4 and 3DS versions feature marked differences, like the handheld version featuring nostalgic sprite-based graphics. The Nintendo Switch version of the game is still in development.
