Dragon Ball FighterZ Open Beta Extended One Day

One more day of button mashing!

Following an open beta riddled with server issues that prevented most players from playing, Bandai Namco suddenly announced that it would have another day of Dragon Ball FighterZ’s open beta for its fans who were left out. The extra day will last 24 hours, starting Jan. 17 at 9 PM PST.

The open beta, which began Jan. 14, was marred by technical issues with servers. In some cases, these were so severe that players were stuck at the main menu and unable to load a single battle. Players reported encountering an error that read “failed to initialize network”. The server issues were fixed on the second day of the beta, however, ending as planned on the morning of Jan. 16. Bandai Namco made this announcement on Twitter just twelve hours after the initial open beta had ended. This additional beta is presumably being run to further stress test the fixes implemented to the servers.

While the Twitter announcement did not clarify if the only changes from the previous beta were server-side, it did promise “improvements to the experience.” Bandai also clarified that this was identical in content to the previous beta. It is important to note the issues present now are caused by server issues, and not issues with the game itself, which means should any server issues present in the beta can be fixed before launch, as opposed to bugs and glitches which require development time to patch.

Hopefully Bandai Namco can smooth out the server issues for the second beta so Dragon Ball FighterZ can have a great launch on its release date later this month on Jan. 26 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
