Titan
The Titan is a tank of a guardian and deserves armor befitting that nature. Destiny: The Taken King delivers two truly worth pieces of gear that help to transform this hulking brute into one of the most dangerous beings on the battlefield. All it takes is a bit of heavy weapon incentive, and some super charging abilities.
The Taikonaut (Helmet) – With the nerf of the Gjallarhorn and the fact that not every great weapon will receive a Year Two upgrade, The Taikonaut helmet for the Titan in Destiny: The Taken King steps up as being one of the most useful exotic pieces of armor out there. The ability to add a sort of ‘Third-Eye’ effect to all Rocket Launchers (radar stays active) and the added benefit of tracking to all Rocket Launchers, as well, makes this helmet a shoe in for one of the best exotics in not only The Taken King, but Destiny as a whole.
Thagomizers (Gauntlets) – While this exotic set of gauntlets doesn’t do the new Sunbreaker subclass any favors, they are perfect for those who can’t get enough of Destiny’s Striker subclass. Using melee abilities accelerates the charge of the Fist of Havoc super. Using the Fist of Havoc helps to accelerate the charge of your melee abilities.
Hunter
With the Nightstalker’s reinforced focus on support in Destiny: The Taken King, some new gear was in order. Gear that will allow this shadow wraith to dance in and out of battle while keeping its teammates buffed and ready to dominate any of the new The Taken Kingchallenges.
Fr0st-EE5 (Leg Armor) – Anyone who plays a Hunter in Destiny knows that they shine when in the perfect position. They are great for reconnaissance and for creating opportunities for fireteam members. Of course, in order to do so, they must be quick as they flit about the battlefield. Sprinting is nothing new to a Hunter, so why not put all that running into further good use by quickly charging all of your offensive abilities (melee and grenades)? Oh and just for the heck of it, why not also give your hunter tighter control while running around wrecking any fool who will cross your blade?
ATS/8 Trantella (Chest Armor) – One of the most panic-inducing sights in Destiny is seeing a Hunter bearing down on you as it glows that telltale blue that lets you know it is in Arc Blade mode. The Hunter’s arc class is easily its most intimidating for some odd reason, and the ATS/8 Trantella is geared up to keep that particular class charged up. On top of that, it adds some serious Arc defense to the mix to make these fast little buggers all the more challenging to put down.
Warlock
The Warlock is now even more of an in your face guardian with the new Stormcaller subclass, so exotics that bolster its chances at survival are a must. Luckily, Destiny: The Taken King is well-prepared and has provided some seriously useful gear for our space magicians.
Transversive Steps (Leg Armor) – The Warlock is built with close range control in mind, especially if you’re running a Sunsinger or Stormcaller build. This often makes reloading a bit of an issue. It’s a rather daunting task to reload a shotgun while having 10+ Hive Thrall bearing down on you. The Transversive Steps exotic leg armor instantly reloads a weapon if you pick up its ammo type. This means as long as the Juggler modifier isn’t on, you have a very good chance of rarely having to reload, just let the death pour out.
The Impossible Machines (Gauntlets) – The Stormcaller is all about crowd control and this can be bolstered by equipping certain modifiers to the Stormtrance super ability. One of the most powerful modifiers is Landfall, which adds an initial, highly powerful, shockwave to the triggering of this Super. The Impossible Machines grant this modifier free of charge, allowing the player to equip a second perk (such as Superconductor), which allows for much improved Arc chaining between enemies. Anything that adds to the kill count is always welcome. You will also be granted faster melee attacks, making your close ranged onslaught all the more violent (in all the best ways).
