Take It Slow

By now, many of you are probably aware that From Software has no intentions of making easy games. Just take a look at the Souls series and it’s plain to see that they are into brutal experiences. Bloodborne, the studios latest title and a PlayStation 4 exclusive, is no different. The game is as difficult as fans of this particular developer’s work can imagine. But, that doesn’t mean the game is impossible to get through. What’s needed is a healthy dose of patience.

Bloodborne rewards the players who take their time. Rushing around Yharnam might be exciting, but it will only lead to death after death. Take your time, learn the lay of the land, examine your surroundings. Also, slow it down in order to learn the mannerisms of enemies. As it was in past From Software titles, defeating enemies comes down to learning when to attack and by that very same token when not to attack. These are all things that can be picked up in Bloodborneeven by the newest of gamers provided that patience is practiced above all else.

The game isn’t going anywhere, and neither is your hunter if you aren’t careful. So just sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy your journey through the nightmare that is Bloodborne.

Isolate Enemies Whenever Possible

Pebbles are used to grab the attention of enemies. Use them to pull one away from the crowd.

Bloodborne may very well be heavily influenced by the Souls games, but one thing that is quite different is the speed of combat. Things happen quickly and that includes going from walking all alone to being surrounded by a bunch of different enemy types. If you followed the first step and took it slow, most (if not all) of these situations have been avoided. But sometimes you might stumble upon a group of enemies you have to get through. Usually in these situations they don’t immediately notice you, so it’s time to use that to your advantage.

One item that is pretty common in Bloodborne is the pebble. Pebbles are a throwable item that don’t really do much damage (about two points worth), but are perfect for drawing the attention of one of the many beasts present in the city of Yharnam. When you come across a group, hang back and toss a pebble (not too far back though, you’re range isn’t the best). More often than not the targeted enemy will quietly shuffle towards you allowing you to make quick work of the unassuming beast. All you have to do is rinse and repeat.

Of course, this doesn’t always work as well as intended, so never forget to keep your wits about you.
