Platforms: PS4, PS3, PS Vita

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan became popular almost overnight with its take on humanity’s fight for survival. Bringing the battle to consoles was no easy task though. Providing the speed and freedom of the 3D Maneuver Gear, as well as the intimidating nature of the Titans, required a lot of work. From the looks of it so far, it seems like Koei Tecmo has it all figured out.

You’ll be able to take control of Eren, Mikasa, Levi, and more as you take the fight to the hulking monstrosities and reclaim the city. As it look right now, you’ll be able to do some Titan shredding this summer.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

Platforms: PS4, PS Vita

digimon story

Digimon returns with a brand new turn-based RPG. In Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth you take on the role of one of two hackers as you’re thrust into a mystery that will affect the entire digital world. Of course, you aren’t alone in your travels. You can recruit over 200 Digimon spanning the entire series as you battle, search, and hack your way through the internet.

Its colorful visuals, fun battle system, and nostalgic roster is perfect for any fans of the series. The fact that you can transfer your saves between the PS4 and PS Vita is an added bonus. Even better, this adventure was just made available for purchase in NA.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven

Platforms: PS4, PS3

jojo's bizarre adventure eyes of heaven

Eyes of Heaven is a 3D arena fighter set in the hyper-stylized world of Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure. Players will travel through alternate dimensions, different universes, and various timelines in order to fight off evil and prevent the collection of the Saint’s Corpse (seriously).

Players will be able to have an AI or human controlled partner as they step into large arenas against enemy duos. Team based specials and spectacular animations await players later this year.

Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force

Platforms: PS Vita

Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force

Take control of you favorite Gundams from throughout the series’ history in Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs-Force. This tactical fighting game allows for 2v2 fights or team battles. In team battles, you’ll be able to control a team of six Mobile suits as you vie for supremacy.

There are plenty of unlockable Mobile Suits from all of the anime series, including Reconquista in G and Iron-Blooded Orphans (first video game appearances for both series). You’ll also be able to level up your pilot and team. It’s time to get lost in the world of gundam once again.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4

xbox one, confirmed, release, 2016, games

Naruto returns with all of his fellow ninja as the fight with the Akatsuki comes to a head and everyone is put to the ultimate test. Play with dozens of different ninjas as you face off against other players, or dip into the story as Konoha Village faces a threat it thought it got rid of ages ago.

This is the first Naruto game made specifically for current gen and it takes full advantage of the power. Huge, team-based attacks, crisp visuals, and non stop action help bring the anime and manga of Naruto to life. Prepare to show your ninja way on Feb. 9.

One Piece: Burning Blood

Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS Vita

One Piece Burning Blood

Burning Blood brings the insane action of One Piece into a 1-on-1 fighting game. Focused on the powerful abilities of the strongest pirates, the game lets you play as some of your favorite pirates and marines from the anime. Even better, the characters cover the spectrum from the series’ beginning all the way to the current arc, including Luffy’s newest transformation.

Players will also be able to take full advantage of their Devil Fruits in order to get the edge in battle, just like in the anime. That means that Logia users can even avoid regular damage, but opponents will be able to put Haki to use. Find out who’s really the king of the pirates on May 31.

Persona 5

Platforms: PS4, PS3

Persona_5_Hideout

The long-awaited sequel in one of the best JRPG series in existence finally hits PlayStation consoles later this year. Journey into the Palace along with the Phatom Thieves of Hearts, a group of friends who have all been brought together by fate. The Palace is not a safe place, but luckily you’ll be able to wield the power of your Persona and those of others in order to fight the threats you’ll face within its halls. High School is never what it seems, but you’ll uncover the secrets surrounding it all.

Persona 5 brings a brand new, sharper aesthetic to the series, as well as some of the mechanics it has adopted along the way. This will be the biggest year yet as you once again assume the role of the new kid. Face challenges head-on and help clear the hearts and minds of those around you.

Pokemon GO

Platforms: iOS, Android

Pokemon GO, Pokémon, mobile, ios, android

The only mobile title here, Pokemon GO is an augmented-reality game that allows players to catch those lovable little monsters in the real world. You’ll be able to capture, train, and battle against other players. What makes this even cooler is that Pokemon will be found in different areas depending on their type.

You want a water Pokemon? You’ll find them by ponds, rivers, beaches, and lakes. This attention to detail along with generations of fans who wanted nothing more than to become real Pokemon masters speaks to the inner Ask Ketchum in us all. Get ready to catch ’em all later this year.

Pokken Tournament

Platforms: Wii U

Pokken Tournament

Pokken Tournament takes Pokemon battles to a whole new level. Instead of the turn-based style that the series is known for, you’ll take direct control of some of the strongest Pokemon made popular through the games and anime in a full-on fighting game.

Each Pokemon will have its own strengths and weaknesses, and you’ll be able to pull off their signature moves in the fast paced arena action. Adding to the experience is the fact that you’ll even be able to trigger the Mega Evolutions of many of the fighters mid-battle. Things are going to get intense, and you’ll never look at battles the same again. You can check out the current Pokken roster here.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization

Platforms: PS4, PS Vita

sao hollow realization

Take control of Kirito once more as you journey back into the world of Aincrad, the setting of the first game within the anime. Things have changed, and although the world appears to be the same, Sword Art: Origins hides its own dark secrets. This is the world that once killed you and your friends, so going back will prove to be a challenge.

Fight alongside Kirito’s friends from the anime including Leafa, Asuna, and Klein. Perfect your Sword Arts, level up, and master the strategy needed to defeat every boss out there. The world of Sword Art Online is not one to be trifled with, and this action RPG will put you through your paces, so don’t get too comfortable.

Keep in mind that these are only the games with a confirmed release for the North America in 2016. There are hopefully many other anime/manga-based to come this year, and we’ll keep you updated as they reveal themselves.
