Square Enix has announced that Neo: The World Ends With You will be coming to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch in the summer of 2021. It’s unclear whether this game takes place after or before the events of the original game that launched on DS over a decade ago.

The reveal trailer, which you can check out below, shows off a cast of brand-new characters that are to the series, except for two: Minamimoto and an unnamed girl that appears in the epilogue for the Final Remix port on Switch.

We also see that the game is now fully 3D but still takes place in Shibuya, a popular commercial district in Japan known for its department stores and other businesses. The combat system also retains its pin-based elements and there’s even a new Game Master this time around named Shiba.

Neo: The World Ends With You will launch in summer 2021 for PS4 and Switch. Here’s a description of the game via a press release:

NEO: The World Ends with You transports players to the streets of the Shibuya, where they will take part in the “Reapers’ Game,” a life-or-death battle for survival. Players will take on the role of Rindo as they explore the heart of Tokyo to uncover the mysteries behind the sinister Game in which they have been forced to take part.

NEO: The World Ends with You brings a re-creation of modern Shibuya to life in a unique and comic-inspired style. Players can explore and enjoy the sights, sounds, and culture of this bustling city, fight monsters alongside their ally companions in fast-paced action battles, and complete missions as they seek to change the fate they’ve been handed.

There’s also a new anime coming early next year that will retell the events of the original game, which you can read more about here.
