5 Funny Uncharted 4 Moments Courtesy of the Beta

Oh, Naughty Dog.

There’s a Selfie Taunt

Recommended Videos

Taunts have always been a big part of the Uncharted multiplayer portions. They come off as a little ungracious and arrogant when you use them on downed enemies, sure, but they’re downright hilarious when you use them on your own teammates.

With the Uncharted 4 beta, Naughty Dog has taken a page out of Cassie Cage’s book and given us a selfie taunt. The taunt literally has Nate pull out a cellphone and make lots of silly poses. Imagine Sully doing the taunt. Or the big baddie Lazarevic.

“Find the Villains on Radar and KO Them”

At the start of the Uncharted 4 beta, players have to play through an introductory stage. The stage gets you reacquainted with the shooting mechanics and the rope. When the time comes for you to take down your enemies, your objective flashes on the screen: Find the villains on radar and KO them.

KO them? With bullets from my automatic rifle? You mean kill them? It’s not a big thing, and it certainly doesn’t change anything about the game’s mechanics, but it’s funny how Naughty Dog seems to be trying to conceal the fact that Nate really is a cold-blooded murderer who slaughters thousands of people.

KO them. Psh. Silly Naughty Dog.

“Purchase the Wrath of El Dorado”

The Uncharted 4 beta takes a turn for the wacky when its introductory stage reveals that you can buy mystical powers to aid you in battle. Are you pinned down by a fierce group of enemies? No problem. Just give us a few hundred dollars and you’ll be able to purchase the Wrath of El Dorado. We’ll send down a large mystical tablet that shoots out evil energy and will target only your enemies.

Ah, okay. I see Nate has become an accomplished enough treasure hunter over the years to be able to start buying mystical powers with cold, hard cash. My enemies don’t stand a chance. I have the power of El Dorado behind me.

A Team Full of Lazarevics, or Nates, or Elenas

One of the funniest details I’ve noticed in the Uncharted 4 beta is that everyone on your team can choose to play the same character. Similarly to the previous games, you can have a team full of Nathan Drakes up against a team full of Lazarevics.

Better yet, having a team full of Elena Fishers wearing the exact same outfit makes me feel like I’m starting an all-girl pop group. Well, it’s an all-girl pop group that shoots and KOs people. But hey, same difference.

Asking the Personal Questions

Before you get to jump into the multiplayer part of the Uncharted 4 beta, the game feels the need to ask you an extremely personal question: How experienced are you with multiplayer shooters?

Why so nosy, Naughty Dog? N-no one needs to know I’m just a lousy c-casual, okay?!

Did you get to play the Uncharted 4 beta? What are some of your personal funny moments? Let us know in the comments!
