Many of you may be familiar with Conan O’Brien. He has, after all, had his hand in a great many things these past decades. From the Simpsons to his own show, the man gets around. He also runs a series called “Clueless Gamer.” Whether it can still justifiably be called that after reviewing so many games is a question for another time.
Regardless, this time Conan gets his hands on The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. If you’ve never seen this series, put on your thick skin. Conan’s audience is definitely not the mainstream gaming audience. That means ridiculing games is the order of the day.
Which is fine, really. Nothing is impervious to a good old ribbing, and the ability to laugh at things held near and dear to the heart is important and healthy.
Though it’s painfully obvious that Conan’s interest lies primarily with the sexualized nature of The Witcher III. Most of the humor is derived from the cutscene shown when Yennefer is seen reclining naked from behind, and he doesn’t really let it drop.
It’s called a review, but don’t take it seriously. What’s more important is that, if one remembers that Conan is a comedian whose job is to make people laugh, this can be pretty funny.
Conan and Clueless Gamer look at other games as well, most recently Mortal Kombat X and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. This is the first RPG since Skyrim (note the reference to gamers being solely “guys” in that one – it was 2012 back then, and they were dark times) that Conan has picked up. As far as popular coverage goes, this might be more beneficial than not. Whether a “review” by Conan O’Brien will affect anyone picking up the game is anyone’s guess; hopefully, it might pique their interest.
The Witcher III: Wild Hunt debuts on May 19, 2015, on PC, PS4, and XboxOne. It’s the last game in the trilogy following the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, witcher extraordinaire.
