Intelligence and Strength are key aspects in The Escapists (All images provided by @thesfginger)

Recommended Items:

  • Sock Mace = Sock + Soap

Before you can ever hope to escape you will need money in order to buy the appropriate escape tools. Doing your allocated prison job, whilst also taking up tasks from other fellow prisoners, will boost your wallet and give access to better crafting items.

In addition, don’t forget to head to the gym in your free time to get a bit stronger whilst also hitting the books in the library to increase intelligence. Some of the tools you may wish to craft require a higher level of knowledge, so keep that in mind before beginning your master escape plan.

Dig through the wall

Guards can foil your plans at any time!

Recommended Items:

  • Poster = Magazine + Duct Tape
  • Forks and Spoons
  • Bed Dummy = Pillow + Pillow + Bedsheet

Your cell block is directly adjacent to a small alleyway only accessible, rarely, by guards. Forks and pickaxes are the best way to break through, but don’t forget to place up a sneaky Poster to stop the guards from finding out. Once behind the wall, this is a great place to start storing some of your illegal items away from your desk. They won’t get confiscated during cell tosses, and you can continue working throughout the night.

Bed Dummies will deter guards from your absence.

It’s recommended to also place bedsheets on your cell to impair vision, and maybe place a bed dummy in case a curious guard decides to walk in. All it takes is one mistake for the entire plan to fail!

Get past the door

Getting past the door can be done in two ways.

Recommended Items:

  • Flimsy Shovel = Tool Handle + Sheet of Metal+ Duct Tape
  • Flimsy Pickaxe = Tool Handle + Crowbar + Duct Tape
  • Timber Brace = Timber + Timber
  • Key Mold = Wad of Putter + Key

Next step is the door, blocking a mysterious ladder, to the right side of the corridor. There are two options here:

  1. Dig under the door
  2. Get a key off the guard

The easiest way is to dig under is by using spoons, shovels, or pickaxes in order to get through quickly. Keep in mind that you need a Timber Brace to support the newly made hole in the wall as you traverse. It is recommended that you make a few of these as you’ll need them again in a couple steps.

Timber Braces are crucial for digging underground.

If you choose to get a key, you have to mercilessly track down and knock out each guard until you find the appropriate colour and use a key mould to copy the key without being found. Guards normally have high strength along with better weapons so tread carefully before taking one out.

Final Preparations

Make sure you have everything before you escape!

Recommended Items:

  • Chocolate
  • Flimsy Pickaxe
  • Flimsy Shovel
  • Sheet Rope = Bedsheet x2
  • Guard Outfit (Optional)

This escape method has to be done with precision, so make sure you have all the items you need. Sheet Rope, timber brace, some sort of digging tool and perhaps a guard outfit. Definitely do this at night and you have to be quick!

Once you have all your items, locked down your cell and are at low fatigue levels, it’s time to escape!

Escape!

One fence is stopping your freedom!

Once up the ladder, a Sheet Rope is required to jump off the wall of the prison onto ground level. Wearing a guard outfit will increase your chances of avoiding the snipers, snooping guards or search lights.

Once on the ground, head directly over to the fence that is adjacent to the wall and start digging with your tool of choice. Use the Timber Brace and you will escape in a matter of seconds.

Freedom!

There are several ways to escape the prisons in The Escapists, and many more secret areas to find. From prisoner stashes, ventilation systems and a ton of other jobs to try out, it’s recommended you take time to explore before putting your escape plan together.
