We’ve all been there; you thought you were walking on the nice, safe floor only to find out you just jumped through a small opening that leads your character to hell. Or maybe you miscalculated a jump. Or perhaps you overestimated how much of a boost your thrusters had left in them. In any case, you have definitely accidentally killed yourself in a game. The shame that befalls us when this happens is real. But Call of Duty: Black Ops manages to encapsulate our feelings in one simple death message.
That’s right, mistakes were indeed made. Thank you, Call of Duty: Black Ops III beta for just getting it, you know? Always there, letting us know it’s okay. Reassuring us that mistakes were made, but not that they were necessarily ours. They were just made, okay? We acknowledge what happened with as much detachment as possible and we try to move on with our lives.
As well as hope that enough kills happen quickly to cover our shame. Thank you, Black Ops III.
