In what seems like one of the most sudden reveals in recent memories, Sega have announced the existence of Alien: Isolation, a first person survival horror that appears to have already had a lot of work underway. Created by Creative Assembly, this is a real move away from the action-oriented games of Aliens past involving a multitude of enemies and space marines with pulse rifles, and instead favours a lonely, tense experience of being stalked by a single Xenomorph aboard a trading station. In short, this is much more Alien and Aliens.
Creative Assembly have gone as far as to claim this is ‘the Alien game fans of the series have always wanted’, as you crawl around in the cold depths of the ship, completely unarmed, hoping to not see your foe around the corner… or that he’s been watching you the whole time.
Alien:Isolation is set to hit late 2014 for PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC. Between this, The Evil Within, and Frictional’s new project, horror may yet stand a chance!
