Pre-orders for the Oculus Rift have opened on the official Oculus website and its price and release date have been confirmed.
As the picture below shows, the headset will cost $599. The expected shipping date is now April 2016, a month later than the initially stated on the site. Limited to one per customer, the pre-order will include the headset itself, a sensor, an Oculus Remote, an Xbox One Controller, a copy of both EVE: Valkyrie and Lucky’s Tale, and all the important cables.
The $599 price point is probably more than a lot of people were expecting, with most expecting the Rift to be closer to the $400 mark. It will be interesting how many are pre-ordered, especially with other VR headsets, such as the PlayStation VR still to have their prices announced.
Do you think the asking price is too high for the Oculus Rift? How much would you be willing to pay? Will you be holding out for another VR headset? Let us know in the comments.
