As they’ve demonstrated recently, Pornhub keeps statistics on pretty much everything their users view or search. In 2015, one of the biggest trends was videogame related, but not for a new title. It seems that one of the most popular game-related search terms was for the 2011 title Minecraft.
According to the statisticians at Pornhub Insights, searches for Minecraft increased 326 percent since Jan. 2014. 108 percent of that growth happened in 2015 alone. The blog post mostly links this to news coverage.
Around May 21, 2015 over 3 million people were duped into downloading a fake version of Minecraft. This event resulted in a 291% increase in Minecraft searches on Pornhub. On June 14, 2015 we also saw a 154% increase in Minecraft searches. The likely cause? A new version of Minecraft featuring Microsoft’s hololens was being shown live the next day at the E3 Expo.
Pornhub also posted info on related searches to the game. Users search for Halo, Clash of Clans, and Fallout 4 before settling on Minecraft. Finally, the post notes that 80 percent of people searching for Minecraft are between the ages of 18 and 24, and 85 percent are male.
It makes sense that one of the most popular games ever has content on a porn website. It just goes to prove that old rule: “If it exists, there is porn of it”.
