The Fighter Squadron mode in Star Wars Battlefront pits the Empire versus the Rebels solely by air. With the inclusion of playable heroes such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, on the ground, it’s no surprise the iconic vehicles from Star Wars make a big splash in Battlefront as well.
From a post on the official Star Wars Battlefront blog, Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon and Boba Fett’s Slave-1 will be playable. Across the battlefield, or “Battlefront” if you want to be cheeky, you’ll find pickups for the hero vehicles. Likely to avoid players scouting for these pickups the entire game, your turn in the cockpit in the match ends once you get destroyed. After the enemy downs your hero vehicles, the possession goes to the next pickup finder.
While the firepower and speed of the hero vehicles outweigh any of either side’s ships, the enemy makes you a priority. Senior Designer Björn Sundell found this out quickly after playtests with the hero vehicles. “During playtests [sic] we’ve noticed how excited players get to be the one taking down the Millennium Falcon or Slave I. You should always keep both offence and defense in mind.”
Star Wars Battlefront releases November 17th on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
