Prerequisite Selfie
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is quite the beautiful game, there are no two ways about it. Ubisoft has always prided itself on delivering a world and characters that are as true to the era of the game as possible. Syndicate takes it all a step further and adds that extra level of visual polish to every single aspect of the game (all of the characters keep their faces now). From the rain-slicked cobblestones of London’s streets, to the very stitching in Jacob’s and Evie’s assassin attire, this is certainly the best looking entry into the series yet.
Of course, this isn’t something you should keep to yourself, that just isn’t very becoming of a budding assassin. While your job is to keep to the shadows and kill your targets, sometimes it’s good to get out there in the sunlight. Head to the docks and take a pic of the horizon to make all of your friends jealous, or perhaps you’d rather get lost in the crowds in the City of London district among all the bustling excitement. Whether you’re Jacob or Evie, you’ll be able to capture gorgeous images pulled right from history.
Early on in the game you’ll even be able to get in game pictures of both siblings together, a rare sight outside of cutscenes, so make them count.
Destroy the City on a Horse
Okay, so we just said that the city and characters are beautiful and need to be captured in pictures, but destruction also has this sort of eclectic beauty of its own. This is doubly true when the destruction is caused by nothing more than a single horse and a small wooden carriage. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate allows players to do combat with this mode of transportation with enemies using the same. This gives you the options for speed boosts, ramming, and drifting. In order to make it worthwhile, it seems as if the developers may have given our hoofed friends a bit more power then they would normally have.
Players can smash through crowds, market stands, small carts, large carts, carriages, some walls, and even those metal lamp posts scattered around London. Heck, if you destroy enough things in a short period of time, you even earn experience and a perk later on down the line that lets you destroy some more. Watching the crowds panic and disperse, hearing the pitch of police whistles as they urge you to stop, and ducking bullets from your enemies provides a thrill that is hard to match in other entries of the series. It’s just you and your animal, hand in hand, destroying the very city you’re trying to save. Nothing has ever been more fun.
Explore the Time You’re In
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate takes place at the end of the Industrial Revolution. Steam machines are in abundance as the great minds of the world move humanity into the next area. Depraved minds also take advantage of the advances in technology, producing new ways of killing the people they hope to control. This creates a world that is both astonishing in its growth and dangerous.
There are docks busy with workers moving cargo, steamboats making their way down the river (some with armed guards), huge market places, fight clubs, bars, train stations, and so much more for you to grow accustomed to. Gone are the days of just horses and swords. Welcome to the age of power and Gatling Guns. Drink it all in, because before long you will take it back from those who seek to do ill with it.
Explore a Far Off Time

Back with the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, the developers decided to add an interesting little treat to the game in the form of these time rifts. Chances for players to explore an alternate history for the location they were in. It was a nice little touch that provided some interesting insight into the possible future. With Syndicate, the developers have done it again, but this time they introduce new characters and a whole lot more history. Players will essentially find a smaller Assassin’s Creed game within Syndicate that offers a new plot and some deadly new targets.

Start a Riot
Maybe not a full-blown riot, but start some trouble. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has a new way of fighting; one that is more up close and personal and certainly more visceral. It relies heavily on counters, stuns, and combos. While it is engaging when up against two or three opponents, it doesn’t shine until you’re facing an entire group of rival gang members, police, and templars.
The enemies are a lot more aggressive this time around, creating openings, countering like mad, and firing seemingly endless rounds into the crowd in order to put you down. When this is all happening it becomes one of the best feelings in the game. Jumping from enemy to enemy, countering pistol shots, using gadgets, and all of it to set up a chain of multi-kills that show off Jacob and Evie’s expertise. Even early on in the game, when your skills are limited, it is a sight to behold.
