The popular survival game, DayZ, finally leaves early access and will release on Dec. 13, 2018 for Steam. Developed and published by Bohemia Interactive, DayZ has been in development since 2012, leading to some excitement for the 1.0 release.
According to a post on the official DayZ website, “with the BETA last month, we’ve seen the return of the first vehicle and item stashes, as well as the premiere of DayZ base building, the release of server files and the beginning of Modding Support. The most recent Experimental Update has returned horticulture to the game, making survival within your base more autonomous, and allowing the return of the full hermit play style.”
For those who are unfamiliar, DayZ started off as a mod and turned into a standalone release. After five years of development time, the devs at Bohemia Interactive are happy to see its release and will continue to support it to deliver the best release they can.
The game has you exploring the large fictional former Soviet Republic of Chernarus to find supplies such as clothing, food, and weapons in order to survive. There are also some exciting updates planned for the future, like the inclusion of base-building, which would allow players to keep their possessions safe.
There is a console release of DayZ 1.0 in the works and it’s set for an early 2019 release.
