Reach for the skies.

Paradox Interactive sent out a statement this morning that will please city-building fans out there. Both they and developers Colossal Order announced this morning that their latest title, Cities: Skylines, sold over 250,000 units within its first 24 hours.

This figure is absolutely unprecedented and has broken sales records for Cities: Skylines. To get to 250,000 Paradox Interactive included both day one sales and pre-order purchases. In the statement, CEO Fredrik Wester had plenty to say to fans of Paradox and Cities: Skylines as a whole.

We would like to offer our deepest and heartfelt thanks to the community for their passionate support and to let them know that we are committed to supporting this wonderful game for years to come, in much the same way that we have for our Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis communities

We knew that we had a great game on our hands and so to be able to continue to provide fans of the game with a multitude of new content for it going forward is fantastic.

This is great news for the nine-member team over at Colossal Order who built the game from the ground up into what seems to be one of this year’s biggest hits so far.  This isn’t part of the Cities series created by Focus Home Interactive, it should be said.
