All three of CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher games are seeing huge player count spikes on Steam following the launch of Netflix’s adaptation last Friday.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s player count is over 80,000 at the time of writing, and both The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings are trending right now with upwards of 180% change in player count over the past 24 hours.

The Witcher 3 has also topped Steam’s list of current global bestsellers, too.

Netflix’s The Witcher show has received a divisive critical reception, holding just a 58% on Rotten Tomatoes, though its user review score over on Google fares much better. I think the latter is telling; seemingly, video game players, either returning or playing for the first time, are hungry for more after watching the show.

Of course, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the most popular and acclaimed of the series — it’s by far and away the most ambitious adaptation of The Witcher universe –, but it’s nice to see players exploring some of the earlier works, which are, incidentally, more similar to author Andrzej Sapkowski’s earlier books on which Netflix’s show is based.

The Witcher has already been greenlit for a second season by Netflix, with filming expected to start in Feb. 2020. Hopefully for fans of the show, that means they won’t have too long to wait until the next binge.

If you haven’t yet watched the show then you can check out its epic final trailer here.

In related news, developer CDPR recently met with Andrzej Sapkowski to sure up a continued relationship that we expect will result in further The Witcher games in the future.
