Viva New York Mod (For LA Instead)
Now that Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) is finally making its way to PC, many are brimming with excitement over the opportunity to mod the living hell out of this game. Ideas for weapons, and vehicles are already dancing through the minds of those who decided to wait (or those re-buying). Yet, some people forget that Grand Theft Auto IV came before and was introduced to a bevy of mods that really transformed that experience into something new and exciting. Mods that absolutely need to make their way to Grand Theft Auto V in order to get the ball rolling in the right direction.
The first of these is the Viva New York mod. This is a mod that transformed Liberty City’s advertisements, vehicles, and other amenities into their real world, New York City counterpart. Gone were the tongue-in-cheek parodies of Times Square ads, now it looked as if you were really roaming the streets of the Big Apple. Of course, GTA V doesn’t take place in the city that never sleeps. Instead, a mod just like this one needs to be recreated to transform the city of Los Santos into Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.
Just imagine, no more having to kill people in front of the Vinewood sign, now you will be able to take your homicidal selfies like a true Hollywood Star.
Be a Cop
There were actually several mods for GTA IV that allowed you to play as a cop. But, the LCPD First Response mod was the one that really changed the entire game, putting you into the shoes of, and bestowing on you the responsibilities, of a Liberty City Police Officer. This mod is so much more than a skin, you actually become a cop in the game. You’ll do patrols, frisk suspects, respond to calls, and ultimately (if your skill allows) take down some seriously dangerous bad guys. Imagine doing this in the much more expansive GTA V.
More vehicles and weapons at your disposal will make your war against the insane criminals inhabiting Los Santos much more enjoyable. That’s not to mention the vastly different areas that GTA V offers as a huge playground to those looking to make amends for all of their criminal activities. If those geniuses that created this mod could manage to get this running with GTA Online, or even create their own multiplayer component, then this mod will definitely be a must have that will put Battlefield Hardline to shame.
Be Someone New
Rockstar did a bang up job when they created GTA V‘s three protagonists: Michael, Franklin, and the lovable Trevor. Each is distinct in both design and mannerisms, and have their own style of play that goes with them. They are truly works of art. Then you have your GTA Online avatar, whom you tried your best to make resemble you as closely as possible. But something about them just doesn’t cut it for you at the moment and you need something a bit new.
That’s where the multitude of GTA IV character mods comes in. There are way too many to count, and it really comes down to who you’re in the mood to be. Maybe you just finished playing Dragon Ball XenoVerse, and you now feel like wrecking some Baller faces as Goku. Or perhaps playing as one of Marvel’s Avengers is more your cup of tea. Whatever mood strikes you, there is a mod out there just itching to transform one of the protagonists for you.
These need to be brought over to Grand Theft Auto V with a fresh coat of paint for those looking to be discovered in Vinewood. Bring cosplay to your next gang fight, or combine this with the police mod and deliver justice as your hero (or villain) of choice.
Let’s Be Real
One thing that GTA V doesn’t share with GTA IV is graphical fidelity. Rockstar’s latest Grand Theft Auto is a truly stunning game that is miles ahead of its predecessor. But, that doesn’t mean it can’t be dolled up a bit more. While the game is pretty with all of it’s new lighting, textures, and resolutions; there are some who will want to transform the game into something a bit more real. We’re not talking changing street signs, and vehicles like the Viva New York Los Angeles mod. No, were talking about making the game look like you’re walking down a real life city street, adding an unparalleled sense of immersion to your criminal (or lawful, no judgment here) exploits.
GTA IV had the benefit of receiving the IceGlace ENB treatment in order tweak some lighting and shaders making the game a lot prettier. Of course that alone wouldn’t get the job done. There was also the Reality IV Timecycle mod along with an abundance of texture mods to choose from to really get things running with that realism you may be so desperately seeking.
Bring these mods and options to GTA V and the level of realism may make you think twice about robbing that gas station. Or you might just laugh in awe as the liquor bottles behind the cashier’s head explode from your gunshots in realistic fashion. It’s entirely up to you.
