Zelda Cross-Over Cadence of Hyrule Confirmed for a June Release Date

Cadence of Hyrule, Nindies Spring Showcase

Cadence of Hyrule, a Crypt of the NecroDancer/Legend of Zelda spin-off, was quite the unexpected indie surprise when it was announced this past March. Until now, there was no set release date, but a recent Japanese Indie World presentation has confirmed the spin-off is coming in June.

For anyone unaware, Crypt of The Necrodancer is a rhythm-based roguelike where your player traverses through a randomly-generated dungeon to the beat of a variety of songs in varying tempos. Cadence of Hyrule is a spin-off with the same premise, but this time around, it contains officially-licensed Zelda characters, enemies, and items.

Considering that Nintendo rarely passes around their IP’s to other developers (especially indie devs), the announcement trailer was a big surprise for both fans of NecroDancer and The Legend of Zelda. And thanks to this new Indie World presentation, it seems we may be getting the cross-over sooner than we expected.

For non-Japanese speakers, the below presentation announces a June release date for Cadence of Hyrule at around the 7:50 mark.

Now, June is a broad release range, but there may be a more specific date to rely on, for now. As Twitter user NWPlayer123 discovered and NintendoLife reported, the Cadence of Hyrule Nintendo eShop page contains a date in the source code:

June 20, just three weeks from now. Seems like a reasonable enough date, but take it with a grain of salt. The same page read a few hours earlier that the release date was May 30, before it was changed. With how fickle this is, it may just be a placeholder date or a mistake.

Regardless of whether it comes out the 20th or not, Cadence of Hyrule will most certainly release in June, and we’re very excited for it.
