With Yooka-Laylee set to release in just a few months, Playtonic Games is unveiling some of its multiplayer action in a new trailer.
Scattered throughout Yooka-Laylee’s playful worlds are arcade machines operated by play coins, also found in the campaign. The minigames in these can alternatively be accessed from the menu screen, but only if you manage to beat the high score of Rextro Sixtyfourus, a dinosaur who guards the machines and a relentless homage to the N64.
The eight minigames can pit up to four couch co-op players in challenges ranging from kart racing to arena battles. Other games have you fighting for flag control, like Blag the Flag, and running obstacle courses, like Jobstacle Course. And if there is ever a lack of friends on your couch, you can tackle the arcade games solo in a quest to climb the leaderboards.
Outside of Rextro’s Arcade, players can local co-op Yooka-Laylee’s campaign by handing a second player control of the Bee Team, which can deal with traps or collect currency and health.
Yooka-Laylee releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Apr. 11, 2017.
