Blizzard is allowing World of Warcraft players who have canceled their subscriptions to jump back into its world for free this weekend only.
Returning players will have full access to all of their characters and be able to explore up to Warlords of Draenor, the game’s fifth expansion, or last expansion purchased if released after until Sunday, June 24. Game services such as changing race, appearance, name, faction, or transferring a character are also on sale for a limited time during the weekend.
The free weekend comes almost two months before the launch of World of Warcraft’s seventh expansion, Battle for Azeroth, for PC and Mac on Aug. 14. The expansion contains new continents, Allied Races, dungeons, raids, and raises the level cap to 120. Pre-purchasing Battle for Azeroth from the Blizzard store includes a level 110 character boost and the game’s sixth expansion, Legion, which released back in August 2016.
Newly registered players will not be able to join the free weekend, since the game has a starter edition that allows anyone to play for free with no time restrictions until level 20. Considering the original release of World of Warcraft back in 2004 had a hard level cap of 60, the starter edition is more of a free trial than a different version of the game.
