So, The Waking Dead’s Season 6 finale was a bit controversial, to say the least. Depending on who you ask, you’ll get reactions ranging from mild frustration to full on revolt and swearing off of the series altogether. In case you missed what all the hubbub is about, check this summary out for a recap on what happened.

If you’re like me, and are annoyed but too invested to give up now, you’re probably still wondering who was it that Negan pummeled with Lucille. For the record, it’s unlikely that anyone outside of the show’s writers and producers know for sure who it was that Negan killed. Hell, they might not even know. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t engage in some fun and harmless speculation right?

There has been a ton of that since the episode aired this past Sunday, but there are a couple of videos from YouTube user Slaykone, that are particularly compelling. Slaykone tries to determine who Negan kills by attempting to crack his counting pattern and then lining that up with how Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe is generally used (in the show and in real life).

Let’s watch the first video, shall we?

Okay, so this paints a pretty strong argument for Glenn being the one that Negan kills. Slaykone uses the shot of the group being lined up, and then assigns them a number based on the pattern that Negan establishes throughout the scene as the bat is pointed at each member of the group.

Before this video though, Glenn made sense for a lot of other reasons, too. The most obvious being that in the comics, Glenn is the one that is killed by Lucille. Also, in the TV show, Glenn is the one that finds what looks to be photos of Lucille’s previous victims. A bit of foreshadowing, perhaps? This slideshow from Popsugar does a nice job of rounding up some of the most compelling evidence for Glenn.

The creator of the video also admits that using a slightly different logic, it could also be Eugene. However, Eugene is probably not a major enough character worthy of this kind of send off.

At the very least, the use of the first person in the episode seems to suggest that the victim will be someone that was captured by Dwight in the previous episode; and was then kept cooped up until they were reunited with the rest of the crew at Negan’s arrival. Those people are: Glenn, Daryl, Michonne, and Rosita.

Still, it’s not a perfect science and Slaykone admits that. So today, that same user posted another video of how it could also possibly be the fan-favorite Daryl that gets to meet Lucille up close and personal.

Interesting stuff! I’m of the mindset that while it could be Daryl (to show how his lust for revenge on Dwight got the best of him), I think it’s more likely that we will see a Daryl that blames himself for getting captured and not being there to save whoever did get the bat. Probably Glenn. That same Daryl later on in Season 7 could then complete his revenge plot and kill Dwight, or maybe be convinced to forgive.

Regardless of whether or not you buy into these videos, it is still an interesting argument that is worth debating. Either way though, this is all just speculation. Until The Walking Dead returns this October, we’ll just have to keep guessing.
