Nintendo has just announced that Wave Race 64, which was originally released on the Nintendo 64 back in 1996, will soon be arriving on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service.
Wave Race 64 is a racing game that takes place mostly on jet skis. Players race on the water while avoiding various obstacles, such as buoys. It has three single-player modes as well as a multiplayer mode.
Nintendo revealed that this game will soon be arriving on the Switch’s online service by posting a trailer filled with various gameplay scenes. For anyone who played the game when it was first released on the Nintendo 64, the trailer is filled to the brim with nostalgia.
In order to play Wave Race 64 and the rest of the Nintendo 64 games on the Switch, you’ll need the Expansion Pack upgrade to the base online membership. This upgraded membership costs $49.99 per year for an individual membership and $79.99 for a family plan of up to eight people.
Wave Race 64 will be the ninth Nintendo 64 game to be added to this expansion pack service of games since it began last year. The most recent game to the service, Pokemon Puzzle League, was added mid-July; new N64 games are added roughly once a month, though it is unclear what games are to arrive next.
For subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online base plan, more NES and SNES games are still being added to the service’s growing library of games; three more, including Kirby’s Avalanche, were just added a few weeks ago.
