Monster Hunter Stories is the latest Monster Hunter adventure to release here in North America, and if you’re looking forward to getting a little new MonHun under your belt, you just might want to give it a try. You can download the demo from the Nintendo 3DS eShop right now, ahead of its official US launch next month on September 8.
Monster Hunter Stories turns the franchise on its head by moving away from the large-scale monster battles the games are known for and supplanting them with turn-based battles and RPG mechanics. It’s a lot more colorful this time around too, inviting players to take on the role of Monster Riders, who collect and hatch monsters as friends. You can use said monsters on your journey throughout the game as allies, too.
If you check out the demo, you’ll get to complete the first few hours of the game, then transfer your save data over when and if you decide to purchase the full version. You’ll retain all of your monsters, items, and experience earned throughout the playthrough, so you won’t have to start over. If that sounds like something that’s right up your alley, you can bust out your handheld system right now and start telling your own Monster Hunter story now.
