A while back, it was revealed that Titanfall 2 was going to have a multiplayer beta ahead of its October release date. If you were a PC player hoping to get in on the robot action, bad news: it’s console exclusive. For Respawn, the exclusivity is so they can test the servers and scale accordingly.
According to Vince Zampella, there’s other reasons to not include the PC. The first is that they’re honestly not ready to deal with minimum-specification optimization, because there’s “additional variables and configurations” that need support. Further, they haven’t run the game through the hardware compatibility test lab to detect the variety of hardware that encompasses PCs.
Zampella also said that releasing the beta on PC would undoubtedly lead to “wonderfully curious PC players” uncovering single player story secrets. To him, it’s been “proven in the past that they will dig out anything they can,” and they want things to be a surprise for everyone.
Titanfall 2 lands on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One on Oct. 28. As for when the beta itself touches down, Respawn hasn’t said yet. But when they do, we’ll let you know.
