Tonight marked the finale of The Walking Dead’s sixth season, which finally brought with it the arrival of Negan. Comic book fans have been awaiting his arrival since the first teases earlier in the season, and the finale’s hype machine just made them want to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the role even more. Finally, he arrived, and he certainly lived up to his reputation as Rick, Aaron, Abraham, Sasha, Maggie, Carl, and Eugene decide to leave Alexandria and take the fight to him. But before we get to the good stuff (okay, not good, but you get the idea), we gotta talk about everything else that happened during this 90 minute finale.
SPOILER WARNING: IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE FINALE YET, DON’T READ ANY FURTHER.
First off: hooray, Morgan went and found Carol! But she’s not too happy about it, even after he patches her up. Carol’s quick to tell him that killing’s no longer a voluntary choice in this world, but he’s not having any of that. Some people just don’t want help, Morgan. Meanwhile, Abraham and Sasha take the time during the Group’s drive to talk about the possible future and how they’d both be willing to settle down, if that’s likely. Granted, this is The Walking Dead, so that won’t happen, but still kinda sweet.
The Group continues their journey, getting corralled by the Saviors into a trap to Negan. Carol bolts from Morgan first chance she gets and gets jumped and shot by a Savior for her troubles. Luckily, Morgan comes to her rescue, though not without spilling some blood and shooting the guy six times. Conveniently, they also come across two armored up individuals who take them so Carol can get her wounds checked.
Even with using Eugene as a distraction and hoofing it on foot, the group’s captured by a horde of Saviors. Darryl, Michonne, Rosita, and Glenn are still alive, thankfully, but this isn’t one of those heartwarming reunions. Negan struts out of the RV, brandishing his iconic baseball bat Lucille, and it gets ugly from there.
AGAIN: SPOILER WARNING. DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED THE FINALE.
After an unbearably long rant, Negan does good on his promise and “beats the holy hell” outta…yeah, we don’t know. And we won’t know until October! Fan…tastic.
Now that Negan’s here, what’s next for The Walking Dead? Sadly, we won’t find out until October, but until then, what’d you think of that finale? Let us know in the comments below.
