The Sims 4 got an unexpected free update today, one that’s finally adding the Toddler stage of life to the game.
The heartwarmingly terrible stage between babyhood and kidhood, toddlers are looking to create more adorable bonding moments. Sims will be able to teach them to talk, urge them to use the toilet properly, and train them in new skills using flash cards. When you’re not developing their tiny baby brains, you can carry them around, read to them, or just watch them splash in tubs, cry, and throw your stuff around.
Toddlers are a long time coming for many Sims fans, who felt the feature notably missing from The Sims 4 given its establishment in the previous Sims 3. In a post accompanying the update, executive producer Lyndsay Pearson says that they’ve been talking about the addition for years, but needed the right time “to find the resources and design to allow us to start the heavy process of actually building and bringing toddlers to life.”
“In the two years since we launched The Sims 4, we’ve heard from players on what they’d love to see added to the game,” they shared. “While we can’t always address these requests, we do take note of all the feedback you’ve supplied and what kind of experiences you are asking for.”
You can download Toddlers into your game right now and start experiencing the joy that is underdeveloped childhood behavior. If you’re looking for a spookier (and less snotty) Sims 4 experience, check out the newly revealed Vampires Game Pack over here.
