If today’s State of Play broadcast is any indication, Sony is dedicated to delivering gamers a solid VR experience. While the stream featured plenty of upcoming PS VR titles, including Iron Man VR and Five Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted, Sony has far more in the works than one small, fifteen-minute video can tease.
According to the latest PlayStation Blog, Sony has sold “over 4.2 million PlayStation VR systems worldwide as of March 3, 2019.” That’s nowhere near the total of 94.2 million units that were sold as of December 31st, 2018, but still, those decent sales numbers might explain why Sony is making a push for VR titles. Plus, some of these upcoming games might convince gamers to buy a PS VR.
The blog lists most of the titles displayed in the stream, including No Man’s Sky Beyond and Blood & Truth. It also includes all of the games from the smaller, one-minute trailer featured in the broadcast (as well as the trailer itself).
While the blog mentions all of the upcoming PS VR titles from the broadcast, it also goes into a bit more detail and includes some nuggets of information. For example, Falcon Age will require gamers to bond with a baby falcon at the beginning of the game, so players probably won’t be able to fist bump their bowler hat-wearing raptor from the beginning.
The blog also includes several VR games that were never mentioned in the stream, including Skyworld, Ghost Giant, Golem, and Luna. While all of these titles were announced previously, the blog offers a bit more detail on each title, as well as the ever-important release date. Each game will be available for PS VR on March 26th, April 16th, and sometime in Spring 2019, respectively. Yes, neither Golem nor Luna have solid release dates, which is a shame because the ability to control sentient statues in a digital environment can’t come soon enough.
