The Halo TV Series Is Still in Development

And reportedly making good progress.

Halo TV Show Forward Unto Dawn

Halo fans may still have to wait another calendar year for Halo 6, which still doesn’t even have a teaser-trailer more than two years after Halo 5’s release. But there’s better news on the Halo TV series front.

Showtime President and CEO David Nevins confirmed to TV Guide during a recent Television Critics Association event that the Halo show is “still in very active development.” Nevins added that he’s seen scripts for the show but wouldn’t comment further.

Meanwhile, Showtime Programming President Gary Levine echoed Nevins’ statement, saying the show “is absolutely still in development, still moving forward.” Levine added that he was “encouraged” by what he’s seen, and he thinks fans will be too when they eventually see it.

“It’s still live action,” he noted, “and it will definitely satisfy the fans of Halo and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime.”

The series was announced during E3 2013, with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer. The announcement was sandwiched between Microsoft releasing the Halo 4 long-form commercial/web series Halo: Forward Unto Dawn (from which the masthead image above is taken) in 2012 and Halo 5: Guardians long-form commercial/web series Halo: Nightfall in 2014.
