If you’ve ever wanted to break into a house without the danger and repercussions, then the upcoming indie game The Break-In is just for you. Developed by jorgen games Ltd, this upcoming four-player online co-op title lets you and your friends sneak into houses, museums, and bank vaults to steal everything that isn’t bolted down.

To steal successfully, you’ll need to use your profits to purchase thief equipment that helps you get bigger and bigger scores. It’s also important to note that the game can be played in VR or without VR.

You can check out a brief clip of the gameplay, which was posted to the Gaming subreddit, and a description of The Break-In’s description and features right down below.

The Break-In is a 4 player online co-op burglary game about sneaking into houses, museums, and bank vaults to steal everything that isn’t bolted down. (And maybe some of the things which are bolted down).

If you can get it into your van, you can sell it for a profit. And you can use the money you make to purchase new thief equipment, to help you take on riskier heists.

Special Thief Equipment

Use a wide range of equipment to help you to extract the most valuable items from your target. Ladders, ziplines launchers and climbing picks can help you get in, then use attachable items like airbags and pistons to safely get your stolen items to your van.

Other items like binoculars, walkie talkies, and drones can help you communicate with your team and spot potential points of entry. Advanced items such as EMP devices and shrink rays are even available for the most dedicated burglars.

Natural climbing system

The climbing freedom gives you full freedom to get around. Clamber up drainpipes, crawl through windows, or even stealthily make your way to the roof to scout the area.

Just be careful to make sure that nobody is waiting for you on the other side of the window, it’s a long way down and you didn’t bring a trampoline. Or maybe you did, and this is all part of your plan?

VR / non-VR crossplay

VR adds an extra layer of immersion, but you can play fully without it too! Cross-play allows you to play alongside VR players, even in non-VR mode.

The keyboard and mouse controls are designed to give non VR players the same level of control as VR players.

Randomised level generation
Every mission you enter has randomised room varieties including different points of entry, so you’ll have to make a new plan for each place you infiltrate.

NPCs are also randomised, so make sure you scout the area well before going in. You never know what might be guarding that jewelry, an angry resident, a trained guard, or even a dog?

Currently, there is no release date for The Break-In, though the developer did state that the initial release is going to be PC VR and non-VR, and that they hope to have a native Quest port soon.
