The long awaited Tekken X Street Fighter project from Bandai Namco may be on its last leg, but it hasn’t been KO’d just yet.
The project was brought up during an end of the year live stream featuring famed Tekken Producer, Katsuhiro Harada. To which he responded by saying that the game was still ‘pending’. We also hear that development is roughly at 30%.
Considering it has been over eight years since the game was first announced, it’s rather surprising that the game hasn’t been completely scrapped. Still, this isn’t exactly the best possible update for those who have been anticipating the game’s arrival.
Tekken X Street Fighter was originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2010 alongside Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken. The two were originally pitched to be companion titles.
Street Fighter X Tekken, which eventually did release in 2012, featured the characters of Tekken duking it out against the cast of Street Fighter in a traditional 2D style fighting game.
Tekken X Street Fighter was meant to mirror Capcom’s release and feature the Street Fighter cast in a 3D fighter with Tekken characters. Street Fighter X Tekken did receive some fairly positive praise upon its release. This left fans eager to see what Bandai Namco’s title could bring to the table.
Tekken 7 is available now for both PS4 and Xbox One.
