Troy Baker is easily one of the most recognizable voice actors in all of video games these days, and one of his more unique roles is playing Yuri Lowell, the main protagonist of Tales of Vesperia. A new English gameplay video for Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, however, shows that a different voice actor was used for Yuri with the extra scenes added onto the game.
Sadly it doesn’t sound like Baker was even approached at all about recording new voice lines. The actor commented on Twitter saying he’s “gutted” over not returning, as he really enjoyed playing the character.
….wow. Yeah, had no idea about this. Was never approached to do any additional lines/scenes. Pretty gutted, to be honest. Love this character so much, would’ve jumped at the chance to step into those boots again. https://t.co/nwDqJGAoWH

At this point, it’s unclear why exactly Baker wasn’t asked to return, as the English gameplay seems to indicate that the rest of the voice cast did return, or at least had pre-recorded lines. We also aren’t sure who is voicing Yuri for the additional lines. We’ll make sure to update this article should Bandai Namco comment on the change at all. Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition will launch on January 11, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Make sure you also take a look at steelbook featuring Repede, that players can nab with the game.
