The trailer focuses on introducing the game’s protagonists, Alphen and Shionne, respectively voiced in Japanese by Takuya Sato and Shino Shimoji. There will also be an English voice track, but for now, we get the Japanese voices with subtitles.

Shionne is from planed Dahna, which has ruled for centuries with an iron fist on planet Rena, depriving its people of resources and of their freedom. Alphen is from Rena. He wears an iron mask and he has lost the ability to feel pain.

Considering the fact that Shionne is affected by a curse which causes unbearable pain to anyone who touches her, you probably see where this is going.

Yet, the alliance between the two appears to be quite uneasy due to the fact that they hail from opposite camps. Alphen obviously wants to free his planet and his people, but Rena’s purpose is more mysterious.

You can watch the trailer below. If you want to see more, you can enjoy the latest screenshots and artwork, the first batch of images and the original announcement trailer.

Tales of Arise will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2020.
