Styx: Master of Shadows was released back in 2014 and it would be fair to say that the game was fairly mediocre. The game certainly had some cool ideas, and is worth playing for those who love stealth games, but it was a little rough around the edges and wasn’t quite as polished as other games.
Whilst it had its flaws, many players agreed that it certainly had potential and expressed an interest in seeing a sequel. Now that wish has been granted as Styx: Shards of Darkness has been announced for a 2016 release.
The news was first announced on the official Styx: Master of Shadows website and the post reveals that the new game will have the benefit of a bigger budget, bigger ideas, and a new engine: Unreal 4.
The game has been in development for six months so far and the first official screenshot has been released. The plot will force Styx out of hiding and force him to uncover a plot which could threaten his entire race. Styx: Shards of Darkness will also feature new gameplay abilities such as grappling around corners, climbing ropes, and using his trusty knife as a zip-wire.
Styx: Master of Shadows is due to be released in 2016 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC.
